Nursing Home Medical Director

The Role

The Nursing Home Medical Director is an important member of the healthcare team in a nursing home, responsible for overall coordination of care and implementation of policies related to the care of residents.

Responsibilities

• Provide medical expertise and guidance to the organization
• Develop and implement clinical policies and procedures
• Supervise medical staff and ensure compliance with JCAHO standards
• Conduct research to improve patient outcomes and quality of care
• Manage medical management activities including utilization review and case management
• Oversee critical care services and ensure optimal patient care
• Collaborate with other departments to enhance patient care delivery

Requirements

• MD/DO Post-residency experience in a clinical setting preferred
• Strong leadership skills with experience in supervising medical staff
• In-depth knowledge of Nursing & Rehabilitation centers and medical best practices
• Familiarity with managed care principles
• Ability to adhere to regulatory standards and quality measures
