Nursing Assistant - Med/Surg Night Shift

Summary

The NAI is responsible for administering direct patient care and performing other duties deemed necessary to insure optimal patient care, under the direction and supervision of a professional nurse. The NAI performs duties, such as feeding, bathing, dressing, grooming, or moving patients or changing linens.

Responsibilities

• Patients and families are served in providing direct patient care services.
• Performs duties and conducts interpersonal relationships in a manner to project a positive image of the department and hospital.
• Ensures that contacts with other health care members is friendly helpful and courteous.

Qualifications

• High school graduate or equivalent.
• None required (professional experience).
• Certified by the N. C. Department of Facility Services as a NAI.
• BCLS Certification.

Skills

• Good interpersonal, communication and observation skills are essential.
• Understanding of patient care needs according to developmental stages for various age groups.

Work Environment

• Exposure to blood borne pathogens, airborne pathogens, and other infectious diseases requiring the use of protective equipment; exposure to other hazards, such as radiation, toxic waste, chemical hazards based on the departments.
• Possible exposure to conditions, such as fumes, noxious odors, dusts, mists, gases, or poor ventilation.

Physical Requirements

• Standing, sitting, walking and working throughout the shift.
• Lifting, pulling, turning and pushing patients daily.
• Ability to use appropriate Safe-Patient Handling equipment.
• Visual acuity, auditory and verbal skills necessary.
• Stressful work periods and rotating shifts.

Pay

$15.63 - $17.98 per hour (Minimum to Midpoint). Pay offers are determined by experience and internal equity.

Schedule

Full Time, 36.00 hours per week, Night shift, Onsite.
