Nursing Assistant I

Position Summary

Responsibilities

• Affords assistance to patients with hygiene, mobility, hydration, elimination, and nutritional needs.
• Executes routine treatments and keeps the patient environment safe, clean, neat, and organized.
• Maintains patient safety, security, privacy, rights, and confidentiality.
• Adheres to standard precautions, washing hands between patients.
• Aids in patient admission, transfer, and discharge.
• Takes and records vital signs, food and fluid intake and output as per instructions.
• Collects and documents pertinent patient information following Orlando Health policies and guidelines.
• Communicates appropriate patient conditions to RN and other healthcare team members.
• Participates in handoff reports and purposeful hourly rounding of patients.
• Delivers exceptional service and care to all patients, families, customers, and team members.
• Demonstrates competency in specific tasks and skills as outlined by Orlando Health and unit-specific competencies.
• Maintains a clean, neat, safe, and organized nursing unit.
• Manages incoming calls, patient call lights, and guest requests.
• Transports and delivers items, equipment, blood products, and medications (excluding controlled substances and IV chemotherapy drugs).

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Must obtain BLS/Healthcare Provider certification within 30 days of hire.
• No prior experience required.
