Role Overview
The Nursing Assistant (NA) provides patient-centered care under the supervision of a Registered Nurse (RN) or Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN).
Responsibilities
- Assisting with daily living activities such as bathing, grooming, toileting, eating, and emotional support
- Performing delegated treatments
- Recording vital signs and health information
- Collecting non-invasive biological specimens
- Preparing treatment areas, cleaning medical equipment, disposing of biomedical waste, and maintaining patient living spaces
- Providing one-on-one patient care in certain cases to ensure safety and quality of care
Qualifications and Skills
- High school diploma or GED preferred
- Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) certification preferred
- Must maintain department-specific competencies and certifications
- For those in North Dakota or Minnesota without CNA certification, registration as a Nursing Assistant within four months of hire is required
- For Wisconsin employees, current work eligibility and registry listing are necessary
Key Duties
- Assist with basic healthcare needs and daily activities
- Administer delegated tasks and treatments
- Record vital signs and health data accurately
- Collect biological specimens as needed
- Perform clerical tasks related to patient scheduling and documentation
- Prepare and maintain treatment areas and medical equipment
- Ensure a clean and safe environment for patients
