Responsibilities

• Performs assigned patient care tasks and other related unit duties, defined and delegated under the direction of a Registered Professional Nurse/Licensed Professional Nurse.
• Float Pool Nursing Assistants hired on or after June 1, 2025 are required to float to the Behavioral Unit to provide constant observation needs within that unit.

Qualifications

• Minimum Education: Completion of a recognized Nursing Assistant Program or equivalent preparation and/or experience required. High School graduate or G.E.D. equivalent required for Nursing Assistants hired as of January 1, 2026.
• Minimum Experience: 1 year of prior acute care experience preferred, or CNA certification, or completion of first clinical course in RN/LPN program.
• Required Certification/Registration:
  • CNA certificate preferred if experience is minimal.
  • BLS certification current and ongoing.
  • Internal Crisis Intervention training required.
  • Float Pool only: Must attend hospital crisis training program within three (3) months of hire or transfer and annually thereafter.

Physical Requirements

• Prolonged, extensive, or considerable standing/walking.
• Lifts, positions, pushes and/or transfers patients.
• Considerable reaching, stooping, bending, kneeling, crouching.
• Ability to pass pre-hire physical assessment.
