Position Summary

Certified Nursing Assistants (CNAs) at WVHUG provide direct and indirect patient care, following standards set by the American Nurses Association; gerontological nursing practice; federal, state and Veterans Administration regulations; and the mission, philosophy, policies and procedures of this agency. Job duties include providing care per a written care plan to help meet the needs of WVHUG members, including care to help maintain the demented member at the highest functional level. CNAs work as an integral part of the health care team, under the direction of licensed nursing staff, with limited supervision by a Nursing Supervisor.

Salary Information

Starting wage is $25.82 per hour plus additional compensation for nights, weekends, holidays, and overtime.

This position is in pay schedule-range 06-11.

This job does not offer benefits

This position is not represented by a bargaining unit.

Job Details

These are flexible part-time positions with the option to pick up additional hours as desired with no required overtime. Shifts available are AM, PM, NOC, holidays and weekends. Candidate preferences gathered at time of interview.

Job duties require the ability to assist in patient mobility efforts, stand and/or walk up to 75% of eight-hour day to provide assessments, kneel, stoop, make visual observations, lift, push, pull, carry, reach, maintain hygiene, use special safety equipment, and wear protective clothing.

These requirements cover the major and essential functions of the position but are not necessarily representative of all duties which this position may be assigned to perform.

Due to the nature of the position, WDVA will conduct a criminal background check prior to an offer of employment.

Employment in this position is contingent upon passing a pre-employment tuberculosis (TB) skin test.

  • AM 1st shift – 6:30 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.
  • PM 2nd shift - 2:30 p.m. to 11:00 p.m.
  • NOC 3rd shift - 10:30 p.m. to 7:00 a.m.

Qualifications

  • Minimally qualified applicants must hold certification or eligibility for certification as a Wisconsin Nurse Aide and eligibility to work in a federally certified nursing home as a CNA.
  • Applicants must be at least 16 years of age and certified at the time of hire.
  • In addition to the CNA requirement, minimally qualified applicants will have experience:
  • - Providing basic patient care
  • - Using professional communication
  • - Medical recordkeeping
