Duties
- Provide instruction for assigned classes, with accountability to entire program; i.e., classroom, laboratory and clinical.
- Mentor other instructors/program trainers in lecture, laboratory, or clinical.
- Provide on-site office hours during clinical teaching times, and during classroom and laboratory times.
- Remain current with industry needs to assure graduate outcomes that meet the workplace expectations.
- Participate in advisory committee meetings.
- Develop and maintain industry relationships.
- Engage in ongoing student learning assessment to determine effectiveness of instruction and curriculum.
- Create a classroom/lab environment that is respectful of diversity and prepares students to work in settings with diverse populations.
- Maintain accurate student records and reports as requested by administrative offices, and according to state regulations.
- Identify students needing assistance and refer students to Student Services.
- Collaborate with Student Services and the Academic Support Division staff members to help students be successful.
- Remain current on developments in the teaching field so that instruction is delivered for a variety of learning styles, uses the latest supportive technology and utilizes alternative delivery methods.
- Maintain course curriculum following state guidelines.
- Prepare and update course syllabi (using BTC guidelines) for each course taught, and work cooperatively with members of other departments and programs in coordinating courses.
- Update and maintain current course outcome summaries.
- Work cooperatively with College staff in the selection and ordering of course and lab materials.
- Participate in staff development activities and serve on college improvement teams and college-wide committees as appropriate.
- Assist in the enforcement of college regulations and report student conduct violations to administration.
- Cultivate a personal interest in communities served by the college and participate, when possible, with community activities.
- Assist in student and staff recruitment, retention, and job placement activities for graduates.
- Attend department, division and faculty meetings; hold weekly office hours, and other duties required to meet student, employer, and college needs.
- Assist Dean in other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Registered Nurse required.
- Bachelor’s of Science in Nursing preferred.
- Minimum of 2000 hours experience working in a long-term care facility as an RN.
- Approval by the Wisconsin Nurse Aid Program, Department of Health Services.
- Documentation of Train the Trainer Certificate or equivalent.
- Background Check.
- American Heart Association CPR Certification for health care providers.
- Must meet Wisconsin Technical College System certification requirements and be willing to maintain such certification.
