Responsibilities
- Assist the DON/ADON in directing day-to-day nursing activities.
- Develop, maintain, update policies/procedures for the nursing department.
- Maintain current reference materials at nurses' stations.
- Ensure nursing service personnel comply with job descriptions.
- Participate in quality assurance program for the nursing department.
- Coordinate nursing with other resident services.
- Review and update residents' discharge plans.
- Plan the nursing services portion of the resident's discharge plan.
- Plan and implement departmental services, programs, and activities.
- Admit, transfer, and discharge residents.
- Complete accident/incident reports.
- Perform administrative duties such as completing medical forms.
- Ensure sufficient nursing and support staff are available.
- Develop and communicate resident care plans.
- Handle on-call rotations.
Requirements
- Minimum Nursing Degree from an accredited college or university, or graduate of an approved LPN/RN program.
- Minimum 2 years of experience as a supervisor in a hospital, long-term care facility, or related health care facility.
- Current, unencumbered, active license to practice as an LPN/RN in this state.
- Knowledgeable of nursing and medical practices, as well as relevant laws, regulations, and guidelines.
- Leadership and supervisory ability, along with the willingness to work harmoniously with others.
- Ability to read, write, speak, and understand the English language.
- Patience, tact, a cheerful disposition, enthusiasm, and the willingness to handle difficult residents.
Qualifications
- Must possess a Nursing Degree from an accredited college or university, or be a graduate of an approved LPN/RN program.
- Must have 2 years of experience as a supervisor in a hospital, long-term care facility, or other related health care facility.
- Must possess a current, unencumbered, active license to practice as an LPN/RN in this state.
- Must be knowledgeable of nursing and medical practices and procedures, as well as laws, regulations, and guidelines pertaining to long-term care.
- Must possess leadership and supervisory ability and the willingness to work harmoniously with and supervise other personnel.
- Must be able to read, write, speak, and understand the English language.
- Must be able to make independent decisions when circumstances warrant such action.
- Must be able to deal tactfully with personnel, residents, family members, visitors, government agencies/personnel, and the general public.
- Must be able to plan, organize, develop, implement, and interpret programs, goals, objectives, policies, and procedures necessary for providing quality care.
- Must have patience, tact, a cheerful disposition, and enthusiasm, as well as the willingness to handle difficult residents.
