Role Overview
The Nursing Supervisor is a registered nurse responsible for overseeing nursing operations during evening and night shifts. They delegate authority, coordinate functions, and support the department's programs to ensure quality patient care. They play a key role in staffing decisions, resource management, and maintaining compliance with clinical standards. The supervisor also provides mentorship, manages Resource Team/PRN staff, and acts as a role model embodying professional conduct and organizational values.
Responsibilities
- Coordinate nursing activities during off-hours, ensuring effective communication among departments.
- Make staffing decisions based on patient acuity and resource availability, collaborate with bed control for patient placement.
- Support clinical decision-making, maintain confidentiality, and safeguard patient records.
- Engage in hiring, managing, and counseling staff, including disciplinary actions in the absence of managers.
- Demonstrate professional conduct and promote organizational values and principles.
- Perform other duties as assigned to support department operations.
Qualifications & Skills
- BSN or equivalent experience, knowledge, and skills.
- Minimum of 2 years RN experience, with preferred critical care and leadership background.
- Current Texas nursing license or eligibility, and CPR certification.
- Effective oral and written communication skills.
- Previous leadership experience preferred.
