Role Overview

The Nursing Supervisor is a registered nurse responsible for overseeing nursing operations during evening and night shifts. They delegate authority, coordinate functions, and support the department's programs to ensure quality patient care. They play a key role in staffing decisions, resource management, and maintaining compliance with clinical standards. The supervisor also provides mentorship, manages Resource Team/PRN staff, and acts as a role model embodying professional conduct and organizational values.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate nursing activities during off-hours, ensuring effective communication among departments.
  • Make staffing decisions based on patient acuity and resource availability, collaborate with bed control for patient placement.
  • Support clinical decision-making, maintain confidentiality, and safeguard patient records.
  • Engage in hiring, managing, and counseling staff, including disciplinary actions in the absence of managers.
  • Demonstrate professional conduct and promote organizational values and principles.
  • Perform other duties as assigned to support department operations.

Qualifications & Skills

  • BSN or equivalent experience, knowledge, and skills.
  • Minimum of 2 years RN experience, with preferred critical care and leadership background.
  • Current Texas nursing license or eligibility, and CPR certification.
  • Effective oral and written communication skills.
  • Previous leadership experience preferred.
