About the role
The Registered Nurse (RN) provides nursing care to patients utilizing the nursing process and standards of practice for a professional nurse. The RN performs all staff nurse activities and functions as charge nurse when assigned. The RN maintains overall accountability and responsibility for assigned patients, even when some activities or tasks are delegated to Technical Nurses, Patient Care Associates, and/or Sitters. Assignments are performed appropriately to the age and developmental level of patients being served.
Qualifications
Education
- Associate's Degree in Nursing from an accredited school of nursing (required).
- New hires effective June 14, 2017, must obtain a BSN degree within three (3) years of hire or transfer into the position.
- New hires or transfers between August 1, 2013, and June 13, 2017, must comply with conditions outlined in their offer letter or signed job description.
- Current employees hired or transferred prior to August 1, 2013, are grandfathered.
- BSN (preferred).
Licensure & Certifications
- Licensed to practice nursing in the state of Florida (required).
- BLS from the American Heart Association (required).
- ACLS from the American Heart Association (required).
- PALS and NRP required within six (6) months of hire or transfer for new hires after July 1, 2018; existing employees must obtain by December 31, 2018.
- ED Fellowship RNs must obtain ACLS, PALS, and NRP within six (6) months of hire or transfer.
- CEN or TNCC (preferred).
Experience
- Less than 1 year of experience for EDFP Fellows only (required).
- 1–2 years of Emergency Department or ICU experience as a Registered Nurse (required).
- 3–5 years of Emergency Room experience (preferred).
Skills
- Demonstrates teamwork and communicates professionally with all members of the healthcare team.
- Ability to learn and apply computer technologies and procedures affecting patient care delivery.
