About the role
This position serves as Quality Performance Improvement Coordinator for the Gallup Service Unit at the Gallup Indian Medical Center in Gallup, NM. The primary purpose is to collaborate with all departments to maintain standards of patient care and provide consultation and guidance to healthcare teams on performance improvement.
Responsibilities
- Assess the quality of care to ensure services are effective and compliant with hospital, agency, and Joint Commission standards.
- Advise and interpret new procedures, practices, and requirements to meet Joint Commission and/or agency standards.
- Participate in the development of policies and procedures.
- Initiate and coordinate investigations of patient care issues, including potential EMTALA violations.
- Formulate and implement effective hospital self-assessment programs and plans to comply with accreditation requirements.
Requirements
- Education: Graduate or higher level degree from an accredited professional nursing educational program.
- Licensure: Possession of a current, active, full, and unrestricted license or registration as a professional nurse.
- Experience: At least one year of professional nursing experience equivalent to the GS-09 grade level, or a combination of education and experience.
Qualifications
- Specialized experience: Managing a hospital-wide annual patient safety risk assessment, analyzing patient safety reports, coordinating investigations, and assessing severity of risk and harm.
- Education: PhD or equivalent doctoral degree from a professional nursing educational program or related medical science field, or at least one full year of professional nursing experience equivalent to the GS-09 grade level.
