Nurse Practitioner - School Based Health (35hrs/wk)

Responsibilities

• Works independently with collaborative supervision using intuitive skills when problem solving in complex clinical situations.
• Demonstrates a highly skilled analytical ability in novel circumstances.
• Demonstrated ability to function in an expanded nursing role.
• Assesses individual patient clinical status and well-being by obtaining complete medical history and examination; developmental assessment; ordering appropriate laboratory tests, and x-rays as indicated.
• Gathers and maintains patient medical records including lab, MRI, EEG results, and abnormal lab findings; interpret results and plan interventions accordingly.
• Collaborates with other health care team members, clinics and community agencies; address patients care needs.
• Develops and implements individualized plans of care, based on existing protocols and individual patient and family needs, including continuity of care issues.
• Performs minor procedures when indicated (e.g. ear irrigation, suture removal).
• Independently prescribes legend drugs according to guidelines.
• Provides clinical expertise for patients, families, and team members.
• Serves as a role model in clinical practice for complex patient care issues.
• Directly manages patient in emergency situations.
• Enhances professional nursing by participating in professional organizations and committees.
• Participates in on call rotation for individual practice as needed.

Requirements

• Minimum Education: MSN Graduation from an approved education program for Nurse Practitioners.
• Minimum Work Experience: 0 years Clinical experience with two years experience in the care of children.
• Required Licenses and Certifications: Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (APRN) Licensure in the state(s) of clinical practice; meets credentialing requirements of Children’s National Medical staff office; Basic Life Support for Healthcare Provider (BLS); Certified Pediatric Nurse Practitioner (CPNP) or Family Nurse Practitioner-Board Certified (FNP-BC).
