School Nurse (Full-Time)

Position Summary

Mystic Valley Regional Charter School is seeking a compassionate, organized, and experienced School Nurse to support the health, safety, and well-being of students throughout the school day.

Essential Responsibilities

• Assess and provide nursing care to students presenting with illness or injury during the school day.
• Respond to medical emergencies and provide appropriate first aid, treatment, and follow-up care.
• Communicate with parents and guardians regarding student illnesses, injuries, medications, and health concerns.
• Collaborate with school administrators and emergency personnel when necessary.
• Maintain accurate and confidential student health records in accordance with state and federal regulations.
• Review and verify student immunization records and ensure compliance with Massachusetts school health requirements.
• Administer prescribed medications and treatments in accordance with physician orders and school policies.
• Develop and implement Individualized Healthcare Plans (IHPs), Emergency Action Plans (EAPs), and other student health accommodations as needed.
• Promote student wellness through health education and preventive care initiatives, including hygiene, nutrition, and disease prevention.
• Collaborate with teachers, counselors, administrators, families, and healthcare providers to support student health and academic success.
• Maintain inventory and proper storage of medications and medical supplies.
• Participate in school meetings, professional development, and other activities that support school operations.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Nursing (BSN) preferred
• Current Massachusetts Registered Nurse (RN) license required
• Massachusetts School Nurse Licensure (or eligibility to obtain licensure) preferred
• Minimum of two years of nursing experience; previous school nursing or pediatric experience preferred
• Strong clinical assessment and emergency response skills
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to build positive relationships with students, families, and staff
• Exceptional organizational skills and attention to detail
• Able to maintain confidentiality and comply with all applicable state and federal regulations
• Current CPR and First Aid certification preferred

Reporting Relationship

This position reports to the appropriate School Administrator and is a full-time, annual appointment subject to yearly evaluation.
