Nurse Practitioner/Physician Assistant, Urgent Care
About the role
Provides direct patient care to MIT Health patients; assesses patient’s health status through interview and physical exam and synthesizes this clinical information to formulate health status, diagnosis, development of plan of care and treatment, implementation of treatment plan, and evaluation of follow up strategies according to age-specific plans of care; provides health education, supportive counseling, and clinical outreach to the MIT community in collaboration with other individuals or services at MIT Health as well as across the MIT Community. Work is done in accordance with MIT Health Policies as well as State and Federal rules, regulations, and standard of care.
Responsibilities
- Assess patient health status through interview and physical examination
- Synthesize clinical information to formulate diagnoses and develop age-specific plans of care and treatment
- Implement treatment plans and evaluate follow-up strategies
- Provide health education and supportive counseling to patients
- Conduct clinical outreach to the MIT community
- Collaborate with other individuals and services at MIT Health and across the MIT community
- Adhere to MIT Health policies, state and federal regulations, and standards of care
Requirements
- Master’s degree in nursing and graduation from an accredited Family Nurse Practitioner Program or Physician Assistant Program
- Current Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (APRN) Certification or Physician Assistant National Certifying Examination (PANCE) certification
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) provider card
- Massachusetts Board authorization to practice as an Advanced Practice Nurse or Massachusetts Physician Assistant license
- Valid prescriptive authority from both the Massachusetts DPH-DCP and Federal DEA
- Ability to summarize and communicate moderately complex information in varied written formats to internal and external customers (English)
Schedule
Some weekend and holiday hours are required. This position works a combination of 6 and 12 hour shifts.
