Position Summary

Reports to the Director for administrative supervision and the Practice Site Physician or designee for clinical supervision. Responsible for the coordination and delivery of comprehensive occupational health care to patients and employer partners at designated work sites and clinic locations. Supports employee health, workplace safety, injury prevention, regulatory compliance, and return-to-work outcomes, while delivering high-quality, patient-centered care.

Core Responsibilities

  • Coordinates and delivers care in collaboration with the Practice Site Physician by:

    • Practicing within scope while integrating occupational medicine and primary care principles
    • Performing comprehensive history and physical exams, including work-related injury and illness evaluation
    • Diagnosing and managing acute injuries, occupational illnesses, and chronic conditions impacting work ability
    • Ordering and interpreting labs, imaging, and diagnostic tests
    • Developing treatment plans focused on recovery, prevention, and safe return to work
    • Performing procedures such as suturing, injections, and minor urgent care interventions
    • Managing medical emergencies in clinic or worksite environments
    • Providing ongoing monitoring, follow-up, and continuity of care
  • Supports Workplace Health Programs And Employer Partnerships By Performing work-related injury care, case management, and return-to-work evaluations

  • Completing DOT physicals, respirator clearance, and regulatory exams

  • Supporting drug and alcohol testing programs and regulatory compliance

  • Collaborating with employers on injury prevention, workplace safety, and health initiatives

  • Providing documentation and communication required for employer reporting and compliance

  • Partnership with employers to improve employee health, productivity, and outcomes

  • Participating in onsite clinics, employer events, or mobile health services as needed

  • Patient & Employee Education

    • Educates patients and employees on health promotion, injury prevention, and disease management
    • Provides guidance on workplace safety, ergonomics, and wellness strategies
    • Instructs patients and families on medications, treatment plans, and follow-up care
    • Recommends community or employer-based resources to support recovery and well-being

    Care Coordination & Communication

    • Maintains accurate and timely documentation in the medical record
    • Communicates effectively with physicians, care teams, employers, and external vendors
    • Triages patient calls and provides clinical consultation
    • Coordinates referrals and follow-up care
    • Participates in interdisciplinary meetings and case reviews

    Quality, Safety & Performance Improvement

    • Participates in quality improvement initiatives and outcome monitoring
    • Ensures adherence to clinical protocols, OSHA, DOT, and regulatory standards
    • Uses data to improve patient outcomes, employer satisfaction, and operational efficiency
    • Supports standardization of workflows and continuous improvement efforts
    • Contributes to development and refinement of clinical and occupational health protocols

    Professional Practice & Development

    • Maintains professional licensure, certifications, and competencies
    • Engages in continuing education and professional development
    • Participates in training and mentoring of students and new staff
    • Maintains active involvement with professional and community organizations

    Organizational Responsibilities

    • Participates in department meetings and stays informed
    • Completes required education, competencies, and health requirements
    • Maintains licensure and certifications (including BLS/CPR)
    • Adheres to infection prevention, safety, and ergonomic standards
    • Follows all policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements
    • Supports staffing needs and schedule flexibility as required
