Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant Travel Position

About the role

We are looking for the right Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant to perform medical assessments on United States Veterans as part of the VA's disability benefits process. This role only performs disability assessments on Veterans; you will not treat or prescribe medication in this position. The position conducts assessments on 3‑5 Veterans per day and is an in‑person role.

Responsibilities

• Review medical records electronically through a web portal.
• Perform a focused, in‑person physical exam on each Veteran.
• Electronically document exam findings required by the VA through the web portal.
• Note: The NP/PA does not make disability determinations; the Veterans Administration makes all determinations.

Requirements

• Current, unrestricted Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant (NCCPA‑accredited) license.
• Valid, current driver’s license.
• Automobile liability insurance meeting MRG Exams’ requirements.
• Providers with multiple state licenses are preferred (license portability rules apply).
• No requirement to apply for multi‑state licenses.

Schedule

• Commit to at least two weeks of travel each month.
• Travel to assigned location Sunday evening; return to home city Friday evening or Saturday morning.
• Primary focus: incarcerated exams throughout Virginia, with possible nationwide travel when openings arise.
• Typical day: 3 to 5 patients seen.
• All work performed in a clinical setting (purpose‑built mobile clinic or medical office).
