About the role

We are looking for the right Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant to perform medical assessments on United States Veterans as part of the VA's disability benefits process. In this role, you will review medical records electronically through a web portal and conduct a focused, in-person physical exam on each Veteran. You will electronically document the exam findings required by the VA through the web portal.

The Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant does not make disability determinations; the United States Veterans Administration handles all disability determinations. This role exclusively performs Disability Assessments on Veterans—you will not treat patients or prescribe medication.

This is an in-person position that conducts assessments on an average of 3-5 Veterans per day.

Responsibilities

  • Review medical records electronically via a web portal.
  • Perform focused, in-person physical exams on Veterans.
  • Electronically document exam findings as required by the VA.
  • Analyze data from medical records and exam findings to complete questionnaires and form medical opinions.

Requirements

  • Must hold a current and unrestricted Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant (NCCPA accredited) license in any U.S. state (license portability rules apply).
  • Providers with multiple state licenses preferred.
  • Proficient in using a computer.
  • Able to commit to at least two weeks of travel each month (travel to assigned location Sunday evening, return to home city Friday evening or Saturday morning).

Schedule
