The Urgent Care has served Southeast Louisiana since 2004, growing to five walk-in clinics across the Greater New Orleans area and treating more than 500,000 patients along the way. Responsibilities

  • Provide direct patient care, including assessments, physical exams, evaluations, diagnosis, and treatment
  • Order and interpret diagnostic tests, including X-rays, EKGs, and laboratory studies
  • Perform common urgent care procedures such as laceration repair, incision and drainage, splinting, and wound care
  • Prescribe appropriate medications and develop treatment plans consistent with current medical guidelines
  • Accurately document all patient encounters and maintain timely electronic medical records
  • Communicate clearly with patients about their diagnoses, treatment plans, and follow-up care
  • Collaborate with supervising physicians and clinic teams to ensure continuity of care
  • Rotate between multiple clinic locations as assigned

Qualifications

  • Graduate of an accredited Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner program
  • Certification by NCCPA (for PAs), or by ANCC or AANP (for NPs; FNP required)
  • Minimum of two years of experience in urgent care, emergency medicine, family medicine, or primary care (three years preferred)
  • Certified BLS/CPR, ACLS, and PALS
  • Active DEA registration and state prescriptive authority (or ability to obtain)
  • Proficiency in minor procedures and interpreting diagnostic test results
  • Excellent communication, clinical reasoning, and patient engagement skills
  • Ability and willingness to commute to all The Urgent Care clinic locations as needed
  • Spanish language proficiency is a plus
  • Current DOT Certification (FMCSA Medical Examiner Certification) is a plus

Preferred Competencies

  • Knowledge of HIPAA, OSHA, and standard billing and coding practices
  • Familiarity with EMR systems and digital documentation workflows
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills
  • Ability to work both independently and within a collaborative clinical team
  • Commitment to professional development and continuous learning
