Nurse Manager - Medical/Surgical

About the role

The Nurse Manager is responsible for delivering an exceptional patient experience by fostering a supportive environment that promotes positive interactions with patients, families, and staff. They spend at least 50% of their time on the unit, providing mentorship, teaching, and support to staff, and maintaining strong relationships with physicians and interdisciplinary team members. The role involves developing strategies to achieve optimal outcomes in quality, financial performance, and satisfaction of employees and customers.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing (required); graduate degree preferred
• At least two years of leadership experience and three years of clinical RN experience in an acute care setting (preferred)
• Current RN licensure in the appropriate state
• Completion of NC state-approved curricula for restrictive interventions within three months of hire (if applicable)
• Board certification in the area of practice (preferred)

Skills

• Knowledge of current and emerging trends, regulations, policies, and procedures
• Proficiency with information systems, equipment, and safety protocols
• Experience in interviewing, staffing, budgeting, and purchasing processes
• Leadership in team building, conflict resolution, and interpersonal communication
• Understanding of adult learning principles, decision-making, project management, and change management
• Focus on exceeding customer expectations through continuous improvement
