Nurse Manager - Medical Surgical

4S is a complex, 36-bed Medical-Surgical (Step Down) unit at Trinity Health Oakland, located in Pontiac, Michigan. Our Emergency Department is a Level II Trauma Center and Certified Stroke Center, serving over 60,000 patients annually and currently undergoing a major renovation and expansion.

Responsibilities

• Accountable for the management of patient care during a designated timeframe, including coordination, evaluation, teaching, and delegation of patient activities to healthcare team members.
• Serves as a member of the organization’s nursing leadership team.
• Oversees day-to-day operations, scheduling, staffing, and 24/7 accountability for patient care delivery, planning, and evaluation of services for one or more clinical areas.
• Participates in and supports strategic development and outcomes management of nursing clinical areas.
• Reviews and evaluates operations and services in accordance with business requirements, marketplace trends, and technological needs.
• Provides clinical and administrative leadership for planning, organizing, directing, monitoring, and evaluating safe, high-quality patient care, ensuring alignment with ANA Scope of Practice, AONL Nurse Leader/Manager competencies, and ANCC Magnet Standards.
• Collaborates with directors, key leaders, groups, and stakeholders to develop and implement operational plans, goals, and objectives.

Requirements

• State of Michigan Registered Nursing license required.
• Bachelor of Science in Nursing Degree required; Master’s degree in Nursing, Business, or Health Administration preferred.
• Minimum of three years’ leadership experience in a related healthcare setting; five years preferred.
