About the Role

This position involves coordinating staff development and delivering advanced diabetes education within a hospital setting. The educator supports nurses, patients, and families by designing and implementing evidence-based educational programs, clinical pathways, and self-instructional materials. They serve as a clinical resource, mentor staff, and lead unit-based practice groups, ensuring competency and quality improvement. The role includes assisting with staff orientation, clinical research, and performance improvement projects to enhance patient care.

Responsibilities

  • Lead staff education, orientation, and competency assessments.
  • Develop and evaluate educational resources and protocols.
  • Mentor nursing staff and students; serve as a clinical role model.
  • Support clinical practice improvement and research initiatives.
  • Collaborate across disciplines to meet educational needs and improve care quality.

Requirements

  • BSN and RN licensure.
  • At least three years of tertiary care experience, including two years in diabetes care.
  • Prior nurse education experience is preferred.
  • Strong leadership, clinical expertise, and knowledge of evidence-based practice.
