Essential Functions

  • Perform patient triage (weight, blood pressure, temperature readings, updating medication list, and obtaining and documenting chief complaint)
  • Provide electronic patient prescription services including communication with pharmacies and verification of medical prescriptions
  • Be knowledgeable of Electronic Medical Record (EMR)
  • Perform phlebotomy and EKGs
  • Perform X-Rays of chest, extremities, skull and sinuses, and spine
  • Answer telephone, screen calls, retrieve voicemails, return patient calls
  • Pre-certify requirements for all procedures
  • Contact patients regarding lab results
  • Maintain daily logs
  • Answer questions regarding patient appointments and testing
  • Communicate with patients regarding patient information and education about procedure preps
  • Schedule procedures and certain medical tests and referral appointments by scheduling dates, times and locations, coordinating and rescheduling as necessary
  • Schedule appointments, verify necessary information such as demographics and insurance information in the patient medical record or file
  • Assist other staff as directed
  • Maintain regular, on-site punctual attendance at the assigned office location during scheduled work hours
  • Perform other job functions as directed

Skills/Abilities

  • Knowledge of nursing principles and protocols and all aspects of medication names and prescribing
  • Knowledge of policies and procedures related to infection control, environmental safety, and patient confidentiality as directed by HIPAA standards
  • Knowledge of medical chart reporting and records
  • Attend meetings as required

Preferred Knowledge and Skills

  • Ability to perform x-rays
  • Skilled in customer service and having a pleasant and courteous demeanor while dealing with all patients and callers
  • Well organized and detail-oriented with the ability to work independently without much supervision
  • Skills in critical thinking, communication, influence, and decision-making
  • Able to work cooperatively as a member of office staff and team

Mental/Physical Requirements

  • Daily standing, walking, squatting, bending, and maneuvering
  • May require lifting up to 50 pounds
  • Stress can be triggered by workload and difficult patterns
