About the role
The Ross and Carol Nese College of Nursing at The Pennsylvania State University invites applications for a Non-Tenure Teaching Faculty in the Doctor of Nursing Practice – Nurse Anesthesia (DNP-NA) Program, a collaborative academic-practice partnership with the College of Medicine.
Responsibilities
Teaching & Clinical Instruction: Provide high-quality instruction in nurse anesthesia didactic and clinical courses. Develop and deliver simulation-based learning experiences aligned with program competencies and accreditation standards. Facilitate student learning in basic sciences, anesthesia principles, and clinical practicum.
Scholarship: Engage in scholarly activities such as research, publications, conference presentations, or evidence-based practice initiatives. Mentor students in the development and implementation of DNP scholarly projects. Contribute to advancing nurse anesthesia practice through programmatic or interdisciplinary scholarship.
Service & Leadership: Serve on committees within the DNP-NA program, Nese College of Nursing, and/or College of Medicine. Support student mentorship, academic advising, and professional development. Contribute to curriculum development, accreditation efforts, and continuous quality improvement.
Community & Professional Engagement: Foster partnerships with clinical sites and preceptors to ensure optimal student learning experiences. Represent the College in local, state, or national nurse anesthesia organizations or conferences. Promote diversity, equity, inclusion, and well-being in all academic and clinical activities.
Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications: Doctoral degree (PhD, DNP, EdD, or DNAP) in Nursing from an accredited institution. Current certification or recertification as a Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist (CRNA) by the NBCRNA. Currently licensed to practice as a registered nurse by state of employment or holds a multistate RN license through the interstate Nurse Licensure Compact. Minimum of three years of clinical experience as a CRNA. Commitment to excellence in teaching and student support in graduate nurse anesthesia education.
Preferred Qualifications: Prior academic teaching experience in a nurse anesthesia program. Experience in simulation-based instruction and clinical skills education. Experience with accreditation processes (COA and/or CCNE). A program of scholarship evidenced by research, publications, or grant activity. Experience mentoring DNP or graduate nursing students.
Pay
This is a term position; length of the term will be discussed during the interview process. Continuation past the term length discussed will be based on university need, performance, and/or availability of funding.
