About the role

To provide independent advanced level nurse practitioner clinical expertise to patients and their families on an ongoing basis. This includes the management of chronic stable medical conditions, routine care, acute or critical care, and medical and specialty protocols (e.g., chemotherapy) as defined by standardized procedures or independently based on licensure.

Responsibilities

  • Manage chronic stable medical conditions, routine care, acute or critical care, and medical and specialty protocols (e.g., chemotherapy)
  • Manage non-invasive or invasive procedures, surgical procedures, including operative first assist per approved standardized procedures as identified by the list available on the Medical Staff Office
  • Act as an expert resource person for healthcare providers including nurses, residents, and other ancillary staff
  • Provide patient care in a team-based care environment to a diverse patient population
  • Demonstrate leadership skills
  • Apply knowledge, experience, and judgment to determine the importance of a situation, set priorities, and use abstract thought to evaluate clinical situations
  • Participate in patient and staff education
  • Meet minimum standards for hospital credentialing and billing standards as a billable provider

Requirements

  • Valid California Registered Nurse License without restriction
  • California Certified Nurse Practitioner (NP) without restriction
  • Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) Certificate within 3 months of hire
  • American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross Basic Life Support (BLS), or UC Davis Health CPR
  • National NP board certification in aligned specialty with the practice area
  • American Heart Association (AHA) Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) Emergency Neurological Life Support (ENLS) within 3 months of hire
  • Graduation with a master’s degree, DNP or PhD in Nursing from an accredited School of Nursing
  • At least 3 years of recent ICU nursing experience and completion of a neurocritical care NP student rotation for NP I
  • At least one year of neurocritical care, critical care, or inpatient neurosurgery APP experience or completion of a neurocritical care APP fellowship program for NP II

Pay

NP I: $87.74-$115.70
NP II: $92.07-$121.51
