Night Watch Person (Full time / Second Shift)

About the role

The Night Watch Person ensures the safety and integrity of the museum's collection and premises. This position involves monitoring visitors, staff, vendors, volunteers, and contractors, checking display cases, responding to alarms, and maintaining appropriate environmental conditions.

Responsibilities

• Monitor visitors, staff, vendors, volunteers, and contractors at entry points for weapons.
• Make regular rounds to check for security breaches and report unusual occurrences to the Control Room.
• Examine display cases for security and damage, and report any issues to the appropriate authorities.
• Watch for and report irregularities like damage to art objects, unclean areas, fire hazards, and leaking pipes.
• Ensure appropriate temperature and humidity levels in the museum.
• Guard against theft by observing departing staff, vendors, and visitors, and require door passes for materials taken from the museum.
• Respond quickly and handle alarms in display cases and other emergencies within the building and on the premises.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED
• Strong security background
• 205 hours of State of Ohio Private Police Commission preferred
• College coursework helpful
• Prior first-aid and CPR training
• Frequent standing for 8-12 hours per day
• Regular walking, talking, and hearing
• Occasional lifting up to 50 pounds
