Night Watch Person (Third Shift/Full-time)

About the role

The Night Watch Person is responsible for protecting the museum's collection and premises against various threats. This position involves monitoring visitors, staff, vendors, volunteers, and contractors at entry points, conducting rounds to ensure security, and responding to emergencies.

Responsibilities

• Monitor visitors, staff, vendors, volunteers, and contractors at entry points for potential weapons.
• Make regular scheduled rounds of the buildings, reporting unusual occurrences to the Control Room.
• Examine display cases to ensure they are secure and undamaged.
• Watch for and report irregularities like damage to art objects, unclean areas, fire hazards, leaking water pipes, and security issues.
• Check for appropriate temperature and humidity levels.
• Observe departing staff, vendors, and visitors to prevent theft of museum property; require door passes for materials taken from the premises.
• Respond to alarms in display cases quickly and handle them efficiently; perform duties related to emergency situations within the building and on the premises.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED; previous experience and/or training preferred; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• A 205 hour State of Ohio Private Police Commission is preferred.
• College coursework helpful as well as prior first-aid and CPR training.
• The employee must be able to stand for 8-12 hours per day, walk, talk, and hear.
• The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.

Qualifications

• Frequent vision abilities required include close vision, distance vision, and peripheral vision.

Skills

• Security awareness and vigilance.
• First-aid and CPR training.
• Ability to work independently and under pressure.
• Knowledge of museum security protocols and procedures.

HOURS OF WORK: 1:30 a.m.—9:30 a.m. Thursday - Monday

Hourly wage: $18.50
