Shift Supervisor - Night Watch

About the role

The Night Watch Shift Supervisor is responsible for directing night-watch mentors and ensuring the physical safety and security of each student during nighttime hours. This role involves completing direct-care duties and training night-watch mentors to meet the organization's needs.

Responsibilities

• Orient and train new mentors
• Attend weekly training meetings on Telos’ policies or procedures with staff
• Create rewards and discipline for mentors on shift
• Generate night watch mentor shift assignments
• Coordinate scheduled activities/appointments
• Administer medications as ordered by the doctor, following Telos’ policies and procedures
• Chart in each student’s medical record under mentor
• Assist/lead AWOL procedures
• Supervise mentors and students in emergencies
• Perform and assist in searches of students upon admission, after off-campus passes, and when AWOL students return
• Enforce Telos security and visitation policies and procedures
• Provide training to night watch mentors at least once a month
• Communicate and report to the Residential Director
• Perform all responsibilities of a mentor
• Monitor and maintain boundaries surrounding lights-out and bedtime protocols
• Enforce student rules as needed
• Support and assist other Telos departments (e.g., nursing, general cleaning and maintenance, answering telephones) as allowed by staffing ratios
• Participate in assigned committees or special assignments

Restrictions/Prohibitions

• No sleeping
• No apartment abandonment
• Must provide your own food or eat snacks set aside for Night Watch
• Only one headphone in at a time while on shift

Requirements

• Timely and dependable
• Minimum of six months of experience in a behavioral health-related field
• Ability to hold appropriate boundaries
• Ability to receive feedback
• Ability to receive and carry out instruction
• Genuine care and concern for others
• Ability to stay awake and perform duties through the night
• Exceptional relationship skills
• Capacity to train staff

Schedule

40 hours per week, full-time (1.0 FTE), exempt from overtime, night shift.
