The AC Portland Downtown is seeking a Night Auditor to join our team in serving guests with creativity and passion. Responsibilities

  • Audit, balance, and report on various hotel areas (e.g., food and beverage outlets, rooms/front desk, gift shop) to ensure accuracy, policy compliance, and fraud prevention.
  • Respond professionally to arriving, departing, and in-house guests, providing accurate information and services.
  • Handle telephone and in-person inquiries regarding reservations, hotel information, and guest concerns.
  • Audit, balance, and report on all food and beverage outlets, including checks, over/short figures, deposits, counts, house charges, and promotional materials.
  • Audit, balance, post, and report on front desk operations, including room charges, phone calls, zero balance folios, corrections, adjustments, taxes, disputed charges, and deposits.
  • Prepare and verify room information and statistics for daily reports to assist rooms management.
  • Balance and close all bank ticket codes daily and run the night audit final after ensuring all revenues are balanced.
  • Greet and check in arriving guests, facilitating departures (check-out) to ensure guest satisfaction.
  • Maintain customer relations by staying informed about in-house and area functions to answer guest questions.
  • Operate PBX equipment, including handling incoming/outgoing calls, scheduling wake-up calls, and paging guests.
  • Perform Front Desk Clerk duties, including express checkouts.

Requirements

  • High school education or equivalent experience.
  • Accounting background preferred but not required.
  • Ability to operate personal computers, cash registers, and calculators.
  • Strong skills in compiling facts and figures, telephone etiquette, and guest relations.
  • Moderate hearing, excellent vision (for CRT screens), and strong speech communication skills.
  • Excellent comprehension and literacy for reading reports and numerical data.

Physical Demands

  • 90% of shift spent standing, with repeated bending and kneeling for filing.
  • Must be able to reach all hotel areas to assist guests.
  • Occasional lifting and carrying of files and office items up to 25 lbs.

Work Environment

  • Prolonged standing at an indoor, thermostatically controlled workstation under fluorescent lighting.
  • 95% of work conducted indoors.
