Medical City Plano’s HCA Healthcare Residency Program is a year‑long, paid program designed to transition new graduate nurses into registered nurses through hands‑on clinical training, monthly educational sessions, preceptorship, simulations, mentorship, and an evidence‑based practice project.

About the Role
The RN Resident delivers high‑quality, patient‑centered care in collaboration with medical providers and the care team, using nursing models such as “Assess, Perform, Teach, and Manage.” Residents act as advocates for patients, families, and caregivers to ensure an unparalleled patient experience.
Responsibilities
- Assess patient condition on admission and each shift, identifying and reporting changes in status.
- Perform procedures, monitoring, and other functions as ordered by medical providers.
- Document care administration promptly and thoroughly in the patient’s medical record.
- Administer prescribed medications and monitor therapeutic response.
- Notify providers and intervene appropriately if an unintended medication response occurs.
- Respond promptly to patient requests and anticipate needs proactively.
- Teach patients, families, and caregivers about conditions, treatment plans, medications, side effects, and follow‑up care, translating complex medical terminology into understandable language.
Qualifications
- Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) certification.
- Bachelor’s degree in Nursing from an accredited program (BSN strongly preferred).
- Registered Nurse license or Graduate Nurse status in the state.
- Willingness to travel for training as needed.
