About the role
At Transylvania Regional Hospital, the HCA Healthcare Residency Program is a year-long paid program designed to help you transition from student nurse to registered nurse. You’ll be supported by nurse educators, experienced nurses, and fellow residents while gaining hands-on clinical experience in a specialty area. The program includes monthly educational sessions, preceptorship training, simulation-based skill evaluations, mentorship from nurse leaders, and participation in an evidence-based practice project.
Responsibilities
- Assess patient condition during admission and each shift, reporting changes in status.
- Perform procedures, monitoring, or other functions as ordered by medical providers.
- Document care in the patient medical record in a timely and thorough manner.
- Administer prescribed medications and monitor patients for therapeutic response.
- Notify providers and intervene as appropriate in the event of an unintended medication response.
- Respond promptly to patient requests and proactively anticipate patient needs.
- Teach patients, families, and caregivers about medical conditions, treatment plans, medications, side effects, and follow-up measures.
- Translate complex medical terminology to ensure complete understanding.
Requirements
- Basic Cardiac Life Support (BLS) obtained within 30 days of employment.
- Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) obtained within 1 year of employment.
- Other certifications may be required during employment.
- Associate or Bachelor’s degree in Nursing from an accredited nursing program.
- Registered Nurse License or Graduate Nurse in the State.
- No previous experience needed.
- Some travel may be needed for training.
