About the role
The Opportunity
We are seeking a high-energy, commercially driven Business Development professional to drive new customer acquisition and revenue growth across North America.
This is a hunter role focused on identifying opportunities, opening doors, developing relationships, and converting prospects into long-term customers. The successful candidate will be comfortable engaging technical, procurement, and executive stakeholders while working closely with the company's scientific and commercial teams to develop customized solutions.
This position is ideal for someone who thrives in fast-moving commercial environments and enjoys building business from the ground up.
Responsibilities
- Identify and develop new business opportunities within specialty and industrial chemical markets
- Build relationships with decision-makers across R&D, procurement, sourcing, operations, and executive leadership
- Generate and qualify new opportunities through direct prospecting, networking, referrals, and industry events
- Lead customer discussions from initial contact through proposal development and commercial close
- Partner with internal scientific teams to develop solutions aligned with customer requirements
- Maintain an active sales pipeline and accurately forecast business opportunities
- Negotiate commercial agreements and manage contract discussions
- Monitor market trends, competitive activity, and emerging opportunities
- Represent the company at industry conferences, trade shows, and customer meetings
Requirements
- Experience in one or more of the following is highly desirable:
- Specialty Chemicals
- Industrial Chemicals
- Coatings
- Construction Chemicals
- Water Treatment Chemicals
- Battery Materials
- Flavors & Fragrances
- Performance Materials
- Chemical Distribution
Preferred Background
- 7–15+ years of business development, sales within the chemical ingredients field
- Proven success developing new business within chemical-related markets such as CASE, Flavor & Fragrance, Construction Chemicals
- Strong hunter mentality with demonstrated success opening new accounts
- Experience selling technical products, services, or custom solutions
- Ability to engage both technical and commercial stakeholders
- Strong commercial negotiation and deal-closing skills
- Experience working with global supply chains, custom manufacturing, tolling, CDMO, CMO, or outsourced production models is a plus
