About the role

Assists members and potential members with their financial needs, including opening new accounts, processing transactions, resolving problems, and providing information about products and services.

Responsibilities

  • Assists members and non-members with general financial transactions and inquiries, such as opening and closing deposit accounts, issuing debit cards, managing online/mobile banking, updating joint/POD designations, and handling safety deposit boxes.
  • Resolves problems within assigned authority in a timely manner; escalates issues beyond authority to a supervisor with recommendations.
  • Posts transactions and maintains records in accordance with credit union policies and guidelines.
  • Promotes, explains, and cross-sells credit union products and services, anticipating member needs and providing appropriate advice.
  • Maintains a teller drawer and performs teller functions as needed.
  • Acts as a liaison between members and various departments.
  • Represents the credit union in business partner visits and civic functions to develop additional business.
  • Cross-trains on consumer lending and mortgages.
  • Provides notary services to members.
  • Performs other job-related duties as assigned.

Performance Expectations

  • Provides informed, prompt, and accurate service and support to all members and employees.
  • Opens all accounts, certificates, and other credit union products accurately, ensuring all forms and documents are completed and filed/scanned in a timely manner.
  • Actively cross-sells products and services to members to meet or exceed established goals and assist in meeting branch goals.
  • Ensures compliance with all applicable credit union policies and procedures.
  • Represents the credit union in a professional and courteous manner.

Requirements

  • 1+ years of experience working in a financial institution.
  • Proficiency with teller transactions.
  • Experience with opening and closing deposit accounts is preferred.
  • High school education or GED.

Skills

  • Strong interpersonal skills for frequent personal contact with members and staff, including first-level conflict resolution, relationship-building, and soliciting cooperation.
  • Ability to handle confidential and discretionary discussions with diplomacy and tact.
  • Proficiency with electronic systems for obtaining and entering information.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Good judgment for resolving member issues and offering additional services.
  • Flexibility to change job functions as member traffic dictates to meet member needs.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to move around the branch and sit or stand for extended periods.
  • Light lifting required.
