About the Role

The Regional Patient Access Manager (RPAM) is responsible for three main functions:

  • Provide field access support services and education to Healthcare Professionals (HCPs) to maximize patient access to Company products and accelerate time to treatment.
  • Communicate with Specialty Pharmacies (SPs), Closed Door Pharmacies (CDPs), and Patient-Physician Services (HUB partner) in support of Neurocrine Biosciences marketed products in the U.S.
  • Build and uphold the integrity of Neurocrine Biosciences' pharmacy distribution network by conducting vetting activities within an assigned geography, including communication of approval, denial, or removal from the network.

The RPAM will provide support and education to HCPs on coverage issues, payer-specific processes, and Company patient financial support programs. They will serve as a subject matter expert on regional and national payer coverage policies and work cross-functionally with field sales, network pharmacies, market access, commercial analytics, and operations. The role also involves ensuring the distribution network operates effectively by monitoring processes and proposing new strategies.

Responsibilities

  • Build and sustain relationships with pharmacies, physicians, and HCPs to resolve coverage problems for written prescriptions.
  • Work cross-functionally with field sales leadership, Regional Sales Managers (RSM), Account Specialists, National Account Directors (NAD), and home office colleagues to support patient access.
  • Provide training and education to HCPs on payer-specific coverage policies, appeals processes, and patient financial assistance programs.
  • Introduce technology options (e.g., CoverMyMeds) for electronic Patient Access (PA) submission and explain payer criteria, forms, and processes.
  • Problem-solve and conduct case resolution for coverage and access issues.
  • Communicate effectively with field sales, corporate office employees, HCPs, network pharmacies, and HUB employees to identify and resolve access issues.
  • Identify and communicate payer issues with the National Account Directors (NAD) team.
  • Interface with local closed-door and LTC pharmacies to provide support and education.
  • Communicate opportunities and challenges related to patient access to management.
  • Present insights into payer coverage policies at internal business reviews and sales meetings.
  • Conduct Patient Access workshops during POA meetings and assist with new hire training.
  • Ensure a diverse and inclusive environment free from discrimination and harassment.
  • Maintain the integrity of the company’s pharmacy distribution network through vetting and monitoring.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • BS/BA degree in a related field and 6+ years of pharma/biotech commercial experience, with 2+ years in specialty pharmacy/market access. Specialty product experience, preferably in CNS.
  • OR Master’s degree or MBA and 4+ years of related experience.
  • OR PharmD or PhD and 2+ years of related experience.
  • Strong understanding of specialty pharmacies, managed care, pharmacy benefit managers, and government payers.
  • Excellent knowledge of patient support programs, including reimbursement and financial assistance.
  • Understanding of the prescription adjudication process.
  • Ability to communicate payer coverage criteria and prior authorization processes.
  • Experience in other pharma/biotech functions (e.g., sales, marketing, managed markets) is desired.
  • Knowledge of current issues in the pharmaceutical industry and national healthcare system.
  • Ability to travel overnight up to 60%.
  • Developing reputation within the company in your area of expertise.

Pay

The annual base salary range is $151,000–$206,000. Individual pay depends on factors such as primary work location, role complexity, job duties, and relevant experience and skills. This position also offers an annual bonus with a target of 30% of the earned base salary and eligibility to participate in an equity-based long-term incentive program.
