About the role

The Advanced Practice Providers (APPs) are part of a multidisciplinary team that plans and delivers care for critical neuroscience patients with a focus on those with neurological and neurosurgical diseases and related disorders. Our critical patient population includes complex strokes, skull base surgery, status epilepticus, tumor resections, spinal cord injury, DBS, and other complex diseases. The APPs rotate in the intensive care unit and stepdown units.

Open to Physician Assistants or Acute Care Nurse Practitioners. Setting: Inpatient, Critical Care, Neurocritical care. Schedule: Full-time, rotating with premium differentials offered. No call required.

Responsibilities

  • Perform routine physical examinations and formulate medical, educational, and psychosocial plans to treat patients under established guidelines and in collaboration/supervision with practice physicians.
  • Develop plans for further evaluation of health needs in consultation with physicians and care team members, including referrals to other health team members or specialists.
  • Provide appropriate treatment for problems within the scope of practice as designated by protocols.
  • Identify problems outside the scope of practice and refer appropriately to physicians.

Qualifications

  • Unrestricted State of Connecticut Medical License (or eligible).
  • Certified or board-eligible Physician Assistant or Acute Care Nurse Practitioner.
  • 1+ years of experience in an acute care/neurocritical care setting.
