RN Nurse Practitioner - Neurocritical Care

About the role

Provides comprehensive neurocritical care to patients in the NSICU, working independently with the intensivist and staff.

Responsibilities

• Conducts and documents initial and ongoing physical examinations tailored to patient age and diagnosis, including psychological assessments.
• Develops, implements, and evaluates patient care plans based on data synthesis and evidence, ordering and interpreting diagnostic studies.
• Performs technical/procedural skills such as central lines, lumbar punctures, and dialysis access.
• Provides management, referrals, counseling, and education to patients, families, and caregivers regarding care and preventive health.
• Participates in quality improvement initiatives and clinical research through workshops and meetings.
• Collaborates with a multidisciplinary team to optimize patient outcomes and resource utilization.
• Utilizes EMR effectively to enhance patient care and serves as a resource to staff in area(s) of expertise.
• Works with clinical educators and staff to address educational needs and improve practice.
• Identifies systemic factors affecting outcomes, facilitates patient flow, and promotes efficient resource use.
• Maintains professional growth, updates clinical skills, and ensures credential compliance.
• Performs additional duties as assigned.
