Hartford Hospital is seeking a per diem Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner to join their Neurocritical Care team. The Advanced Practice Providers (APPs) are part of a multidisciplinary team that plans and delivers care for critical neuroscience patients with a focus on those with neurological and neurosurgical diseases and related disorders.

About the role

The APPs rotate in the intensive care unit and stepdown units, caring for a critical patient population that includes complex strokes, skull base surgery, status epilepticus, tumor resections, spinal cord injury, DBS, and other complex diseases.

Open to Physician Assistants or Acute Care Nurse Practitioners. This is an inpatient, critical care, neurocritical care setting located at 80 Seymour Street, Hartford, CT 06102.

Responsibilities

  • Perform routine physical examinations and formulate medical, educational, and psychosocial plans to treat patients under established guidelines and in collaboration with practice physician(s).
  • Develop plans for further evaluation of health needs in consultation with the physician(s) and care team members, including referrals to other health team members or specialists.
  • Provide appropriate treatment for problems within the scope of the provider’s practice as designated by protocols.
  • Identify problems outside of their scope of practice and refer appropriately to a physician.

Qualifications

  • Unrestricted State of Connecticut Medical License (or eligible).
  • Certified or board-eligible Physician Assistant or Acute Care Nurse Practitioner.
  • 1+ years of experience in an acute care or neurocritical care setting.

Schedule

Per diem. Premium differentials offered. No call required.
