Job Summary

NNP's are responsible for the day to day management of critically ill and convalescing infants in collaboration with the Neonatologist - leading care and coordinating the efforts of the health care team. This includes specialized neonatal care i.e. delivery room resuscitation, stabilization, initiation of infant treatment and necessary procedures, prescribing diagnostic testing, medications and therapies, and providing family support.

Essential Functions

  • Collaborates with nurses and interdisciplinary colleagues in order to comprehensively address patient and family health needs.
  • Initiates consultation to obtain resources as necessary to facilitate progress toward achieving identified patient outcomes.
  • Collaborates with the entire team to optimize patient care delivery and patient safety during system changes.
  • Advocates for patients, families and nursing staff, and participates in professional development and research.
  • Involves in unit committees and councils, and improves unit-specific neonatal outcomes.

Education

  • Master's Degree in Nursing required

Experience

  • 2+ years clinical experience in a level 3 NICU required

Licenses and Certifications

  • BLS-Basic Life Support Healthcare Provider - American Heart Association/American Red Cross/National Safety Council required
  • License Advance Practice Nurse Prescriber (33) - State of Wisconsin required
  • License RN-Registered Nurse (30) - State of Wisconsin required
  • NNP-BC Neonatal Nurse Practitioner - National Certification Corporation required
  • + one of the following:
  • N/ANRP-Neonatal Resuscitation Provider - American Academy of Pediatrics/American Heart Association required or
  • NRPI-Neonatal Resuscitate Provider Instructor - American Academy of Pediatrics/American Heart Association required
