About the role
The Department of Aviation and Technical Education at Utah State University is seeking a Flight Instructor / Mentor Pilot / Standardization Officer. Under general direction and guidance, the Certified Flight Instructor provides leadership, instruction, and standardization for flight students in Logan, Utah. The incumbent serves as a Mentor Pilot to both flight instructors and students, promoting professionalism, consistency, and safety across the program.
Responsibilities
- Serves as a Mentor Pilot to both flight instructors and students, promoting professionalism, consistency, and safety across the program.
- Participates actively in standardization efforts, ensuring alignment with Federal Aviation Regulations (FARs), Training Course Outlines (TCO), and USU operational procedures.
- Emphasizes continuous improvement in the aviation education and training program.
Requirements
- Current FAA Commercial Pilot Certificate
- Commercial Pilot Type Rating (Multi-engine)
- ATP (Airline Transport Pilot) Certification preferred
- Experience in flight instructor roles
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Aviation, Aerospace, or related field
- Minimum of 3 years of relevant experience in aviation education or training
- Knowledge of Federal Aviation Regulations (FARs) and Training Course Outlines (TCO)
Skills
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Strong organizational and time management skills

Pay
Salary range: $50,000 - $60,000 annually
