About the role

The Department of Aviation and Technical Education at Utah State University is seeking a Flight Instructor / Mentor Pilot / Standardization Officer. Under general direction and guidance, the Certified Flight Instructor provides leadership, instruction, and standardization for flight students in Logan, Utah. The incumbent serves as a Mentor Pilot to both flight instructors and students, promoting professionalism, consistency, and safety across the program.

Responsibilities

• Serves as a Mentor Pilot to both flight instructors and students, promoting professionalism, consistency, and safety across the program.
• Participates actively in standardization efforts, ensuring alignment with Federal Aviation Regulations (FARs), Training Course Outlines (TCO), and USU operational procedures.
• Emphasizes continuous improvement in the aviation education and training program.

Requirements

• Current FAA Commercial Pilot Certificate
• Commercial Pilot Type Rating (Multi-engine)
• ATP (Airline Transport Pilot) Certification preferred
• Experience in flight instructor roles
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Aviation, Aerospace, or related field
• Minimum of 3 years of relevant experience in aviation education or training
• Knowledge of Federal Aviation Regulations (FARs) and Training Course Outlines (TCO)

• Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite

Pay

Salary range: $50,000 - $60,000 annually
