About the role

The UNICEF Internship Program in the State of Palestine offers qualified university students a unique opportunity to acquire direct practical experience in UNICEF's work under the supervision of experienced staff. The intern will support the Supply & Logistics unit, which is undergoing reorganization while handling a large volume of transactions.

Purpose of the Internship

The purpose of this internship is to provide a structured learning opportunity for a student or recent graduate to gain practical exposure in the logistics area of work. The intern will assist the logistics team with document collection, verification, data entry, and upload into specialized databases for donation processing and approval (UN 2720). The role includes monitoring submission progress, completing documentation, and updating requesters.

Responsibilities

  • Receive, review, and complete documentation needed for donation approval requests in the UN 2720 system.
  • Create submissions in the UN 2720 system and liaise with requesters and focal points until final donation approval is received.
  • Create new submissions in the COGAT – Mercury System and follow up until final donation approval is secured.
  • Monitor submission status in the UN 2720 system, COGAT’s MATBASH, and Mercury system; follow up with requesters to complete missing documents and address queries.
  • Create submissions in the Ministry of Environment database as required and liaise with requesters until environmental approval is received.
  • Insert and update all transactions in the Supply and Logistics Tracking database and support the establishment of KPIs and performance monitoring mechanisms.
  • Inform requesters of submission status, download QR codes from the UN 2720 system, and share them with relevant team members for pre-clearance.
  • Contribute to the preparation of reports on approved, pending, and rejected submissions for advocacy purposes.
  • Support team members during leave or high workload periods.

Requirements

  • Be enrolled in an advanced/undergraduate university degree in Supply Management, Contracting, Logistics, Administration, or a related field.
  • Demonstrate excellent academic performance as evidenced by recent university records.
  • Have no immediate relatives (e.g., father, mother, brother, sister) working in any UNICEF office or in the line of authority the intern will report to.
  • Ability to organize documentation and files under high volumes and time pressure.
  • Experience operating computerized requests and approvals systems.
  • Excellent oral and written English language skills.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to maintain good relationships with stakeholders.
  • Focus on impact and results, with a positive response to feedback.
  • Consistently approach work with energy and a constructive attitude.
  • Demonstrate good oral and written communication skills and technical expertise.
