About the role

The UNICEF Internship Program in the State of Palestine offers qualified university students a unique opportunity to acquire direct practical experience in UNICEF's work under the direct supervision of experienced staff. This internship provides structured learning in the logistics area of the Supply & Logistics unit, which is undergoing major reorganization while handling a large volume of transactions.

Purpose of the Internship

The purpose of this internship is to provide a student or recent graduate with practical exposure in logistics, focusing on documents collection and verification, data entry, and documents upload into specialized databases for donation processing and approval (UN 2720). The intern will monitor submission progress, complete documentation, and update requesters while receiving mentored learning assignments reviewed by the supervisor.

Responsibilities

  • Receive, review, and complete documentation needed for creation of donation approval requests in the UN 2720 system.
  • Create submissions in the UN 2720 system and liaise with requesters and UN 2720 focal points until final donation approval is received.
  • Create new submissions in the COGAT – Mercury System and follow up with requesters and UN 2720 focal points until final donation approval.
  • Monitor the status of submissions in the UN 2720 system and COGAT’s MATBASH and Mercury system; follow up with requesters to complete missing documents and address queries.
  • Create new submissions in the Ministry of Environment database as required and liaise with requesters until Environment approval is received.
  • Insert and update all transactions in the Supply and Logistics Tracking database and support establishment of KPIs and performance monitoring mechanisms.
  • Inform requesters of submission status, download QR codes from the UN 2720 system, and share with relevant team members for pre-clearance.
  • Contribute to preparation of reports on approved, pending, and rejected submissions for advocacy purposes.
  • Support backstopping other team members when on leave or coping with high workloads.

Qualifications

  • Be enrolled in an advanced/undergraduate university degree in Supply Management, Contracting, Logistics, Administration, or a related field.
  • Have excellent academic performance as demonstrated by recent university or institution records.
  • Have no immediate relatives (e.g., father, mother, brother, sister) working in any UNICEF office or in the line of authority the intern will report to.
  • Demonstrate ability to organize documentation and files for high-volume transactions under time pressure.
  • Demonstrate ability to operate computerized requests and approvals systems.
  • Excellent English language capacity, both oral and written, is required.
  • Maintain good relationships with all stakeholders.
  • Focus on impact and result, respond positively to feedback, and approach work with energy and a positive, constructive attitude.
  • Demonstrate strong oral and written communication skills and job knowledge/technical expertise.

Schedule

Duration: 6 months with a possibility of extension (beginning in September 2026).

Location: East Jerusalem, State of Palestine.
