About the role

The UNICEF Internship Program in State of Palestine offers qualified university students a unique opportunity to acquire direct practical experience in UNICEF's work under the direct supervision of experienced UNICEF staff. This internship provides a structured learning opportunity for a student or recent graduate to gain practical exposure in the logistics area of work within the Supply & Logistics unit, which is undergoing major reorganization while handling a large volume of transactions.

Our objective is to ensure that every child in the Gaza Strip and the West Bank, including East Jerusalem, irrespective of background or circumstance, has an equal chance to fulfill their potential.

Purpose of the Internship

The purpose of this internship is to provide mentored learning assignments within the logistics team, focusing on documents collection and verification, data entry, and documents upload into specialized databases for donation processing and approval (UN 2720). The intern will monitor the progress of submissions, complete information and documentation, and update requesters on progress. All outputs will be reviewed and validated by the supervisor or relevant technical colleagues.

Responsibilities

  • Receive, review, and complete the documentation needed for creation of donation approval requests in the UN 2720 system.
  • Take necessary actions for creation of submissions in the UN2720 system and liaise with requesters and UN 2720 focal points until receiving the final donation approval.
  • Create new submissions in the COGAT – Mercury System and liaise with requesters and UN 2720 focal points until receiving the final donation approval.
  • Monitor the status of submissions in the UN 2720 system and COGAT’s MATBASH and Mercury system; follow up with requesters to complete missing documents and address queries raised by the UN 2720 team and COGAT.
  • Create new submissions in the Ministry of Environment database as required and liaise with requesters and UN 2720 focal points until receiving environmental approval.
  • Insert and update all transactions in the Supply and Logistics Tracking database and support the establishment of KPIs and performance monitoring mechanisms.
  • Inform requesters of submission status, download QR codes from the UN 2720 system, and share with relevant team members to continue with the pre-clearance process.
  • Contribute to the preparation of reports on approved, pending, and rejected submissions for advocacy purposes.
  • Support backstopping other team members when on leave or coping with high workloads.

Qualifications

  • Be enrolled in an advanced/undergraduate university degree in a relevant field such as Supply Management, Contracting, Logistics, Administration, or related areas.
  • Have excellent academic performance as demonstrated by recent university or institution records.
  • Have no immediate relatives (e.g., father, mother, brother, sister) working in any UNICEF office, and no other relatives in the line of authority to which the intern will report.
  • Demonstrate ability to organize documentation and files for transactions with high volumes and time pressure.
  • Demonstrate ability to operate computerized requests and approvals systems.
  • Excellent English language capacity, both oral and written, is required.
  • Maintain good relationships with all stakeholders.
  • Focus on impact and result, responding positively to feedback.
  • Consistently approach work with energy and a positive, constructive attitude.
  • Demonstrate good oral and written communication skills and job knowledge/technical expertise.
