About the role
A Music Hall Security crew member will be responsible for maintaining the safety and security of all crew members, artists, vendors, and guests. They create and maintain a positive and uplifting experience for diverse groups of individuals within the venue.
Responsibilities
- Maintain line of sight/atmosphere control by circulating through your work area during shift
- Follow House of Blues safety, health, and sanitation standards
- Assist other employees as needed
- Follow opening and closing procedures, checking out with manager on duty
- Adhere to all HOB policies and procedures
- Ensure responsible alcohol service per local ordinance and HOB alcohol policies
- Request proper identification for anyone appearing under 30 years of age
- Negotiate when guests are becoming too intoxicated and refuse further service of alcohol in a courteous and safety-minded manner, bringing it to the attention of a manager
- Ensure guest safety through proactive personal interaction and removing hazards in the area of responsibility
- Prevent and resolve altercations among guests
- Lead guests and other employees in emergency evacuation procedures and provide assistance
- Safeguard against theft and property damage
- Communicate clearly using radios, hand signals and flashlights, remaining in constant contact throughout the shift
- Set up area before opening (stanchions, table configuring, etc.)
Requirements
- Attention to detail
- Positive attitude
- Teamwork; work well with others, in a high-volume and sometimes stressful environment
- Keep a clean, well-groomed appearance
- Punctual attendance with a flexible schedule including nights and weekends
- Tolerance of all cultures, music, and art forms
- Responsible Alcohol Awareness Training Certification or Equivalent (paid training will be provided)
Preferred
- High School diploma or equivalent
- Experience in a high volume, fast-paced work environment
- Experience recognizing valid ID's
- Self-defense training
- Experience using metal detection equipment
- EMT or other medical background
Physical Demands/Working Environment
- Extended periods of prolonged standing and/or working on your feet
- Must be able to lift or move up to 35 lbs. using proper lifting techniques
- Willing to commute to downtown area (discounted $7 parking available daily)
- Working environment is fast paced, can be hot, and/or loud
