About the Role

The Multi-Craft Maintenance Technician is responsible for setup, installation, troubleshooting, repair, and testing of complex mechanical/electrical equipment, including automatic machines, process controls, motor control centers, computer control systems, and basic plant electrical equipment. This role also includes preventive maintenance activities for production and building equipment, machinery, and components.

Responsibilities

• Reviews and accurately reports personal activities on a daily or more frequent basis.
• Assists the Maintenance Lead Person and/or Maintenance Manager in determining proper installation and/or repair procedures for mechanical, electrical, and/or electronic equipment.
• Notifies the Maintenance Manager or Maintenance Lead Person if additional hand, power, or electronic diagnostic tools are required.
• Participates in a preventive maintenance program as directed by Maintenance supervision.
• Ensures safe work practices and company policies are adhered to at all times.
• Assists in establishing and maintaining optimum inventory levels of critical components.
• Performs other duties as directed by the Maintenance Manager.
• Operates lift trucks and maintains a valid driver’s license.

Requirements

• Capable of performing low-to-high voltage electrical work, including laying out and wiring complex circuits, troubleshooting faulty logic and control circuits, and carrying out installations, repairs, and tests on production and plant equipment.
• Capable of performing light-to-heavy mechanical work, general plumbing, general carpentry, and repair.
• Proficient in the use of basic hand tools, power tools, volt/ohm/amp meters, oscilloscopes, and other electrical diagnostic equipment.
• Capable of troubleshooting complex equipment.
• Familiar with manufacturing environments and equipment.
• Knowledgeable about company philosophy, procedures, and practices.
• Possesses strong mechanical/electrical/electronic aptitude.
• Mandatory participation in a pay-for-skill program.
• Strong work ethic with the ability to function effectively with minimal supervision.
• Basic PC literacy.
• Familiarity with industry safe work practices, including OSHA and PSM-derived programs.

• High school diploma or GED, or equivalent experience.
• Additional education or work experience in one of the following areas (or equivalent as determined by the Maintenance Manager):
  • Associate’s degree in Electrical Technology, Electronics Technology, or Mechanical Technology.
  • Military service with a minimum of 2 years of training in Electrical Technology, Electronics Technology, or Mechanical Technology.
  • On-the-job training with a minimum of 3 years in industrial maintenance (electrical, electronics, or mechanical).

• Constantly (2/3 to full day): Walking, standing.
• Frequently (1/3 to 2/3 of day): Talking, lifting, climbing, pushing, pulling, reaching, bending.
• Occasionally (up to 1/3 of day): Sitting, typing, writing, working from ladders, scissor lifts, or articulated lifts.

Work is performed under varying conditions, including exposure to dust, oil, grease, hot and humid temperatures, fumes, and noise. Proper PPE (shoes, safety glasses, and hearing protection) is required in the manufacturing area.
