About the Role

The MRI Technologist is responsible for the provision of MRI services to patients according to physicians’ orders and protocols. This clinical position requires skills and experience in patient safety and providing high-quality testing. Must support the mission of providing Sacred Work to all who enter the doors of Baptist Hospitals of Southeast Texas.

Responsibilities

• Proficiently perform MRI exams
• Utilize MRI and MRI-compatible equipment safely and recognize hazards inherent in an MRI unit
• Possess sufficient knowledge of MRI equipment and cryogens to recognize errors, malfunctions, etc., and call for service
• Utilize contrast media appropriately within protocol and policy guidelines of administration
• Apply principles of MRI safety; screen patients appropriately per policy prior to entering MRI room
• Participate in QC/PI activities and enforce MRI safety zones; educate hospital staff accordingly
• Complete all PACS/RIS data entry, histories, contrast administration, and screening data
• Participate in clinical oversight of student trainees

Requirements

• Graduate from an accredited school of Radiologic Technology
• Completed a training program in MRI Technology either on the job or via a training program with a minimum of 7 months to 1 year of experience in a hospital environment as either ARRT or an MR Tech
• Current certification with American Registry of Radiologic Technologist (ARRT) within 90 days
• Licensed by the Texas Medical Board (TMB)
• Basic Life Support certification (BLS) within 90 days
