Mounting Lead

About the role

The Lead Mounting Position oversees and coordinates plate mounting, tooling management, and sleeve inventory processes to support efficient flexographic printing operations. This role serves as a technical lead within the Mounting Department, ensuring plates, tooling, and ITR sleeves are properly inspected, organized, maintained, and available to meet production schedules. The Lead Mounting employee works closely with Production, Customer Service, Graphics, and Prepress teams to maintain print quality standards, optimize workflows, and support continuous improvement initiatives.

Responsibilities

• Evaluate and create Jalima folders for jobs scheduled to be brought to press.
• Open and inspect all new tooling for defects before a job is released for production.
• Assign plate locations and properly store plates until they are ready to be mounted.
• Assist with difficult or complex plate-cutting requirements.
• Evaluate requests from the press department to determine if plates require remounting.
• Maintain GMG standards in an organized and accessible location following the first production run.
• Assist with plate mounting activities as needed to support production schedules.
• Develop and implement improved methods for tagging and organizing ITR sleeves to ensure easy identification and retrieval.
• Coordinate with Customer Service to identify and recycle unused ITR sleeves, while maintaining an accurate inventory of BCD sizes available at Legium for resurfacing.
• Assist with plate washing as needed.
• Maintain plate mounting equipment, including mounting scopes and related tools, to ensure proper operation and accuracy.
• Identify, recommend, and implement process improvements to enhance efficiency, quality, and workflow.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent required; technical training or coursework in printing, prepress, or related fields preferred.
• Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in flexographic printing, plate mounting, prepress, or tooling operations.
• Thorough understanding of plate mounting procedures, sleeve management, and press requirements.
• Experience inspecting tooling and identifying defects that may impact print quality or production efficiency.
• Ability to read and interpret job tickets, production specifications, and technical documentation.

Pay

$24 - $26 per hour based on experience.
