About the role
The installation technician ensures proper and safe installation of all equipment. This role includes both Lead Installer and Installation Helper responsibilities.
Lead Installer responsibilities
- Install new/replacement equipment and provide excellent customer service to residential and commercial heating and air conditioning customers
- Interpret construction drawings, schematics, and cut sheets in the field
- Work on a variety of projects and tasks related to the HVAC trade: Residential Furnace, Air Conditioner, Heat Pump, Commercial Rooftop Ductwork, Condensate Drains, Venting, Refrigerant Piping, Gas Piping & Insulation
- Perform line and low voltage wiring, controls, and programming
- Complete other job/field related tasks as required: brazing, threading pipe, soldering, and welding
- Prepare, test, and start-up new HVAC equipment
- Interface with customers in their homes and places of work, maintaining an acceptable appearance and manners
- Explain the system to the client when finished with an installation and ensure they are 100% satisfied with the work
- Train installation assistants/helpers, teaching them to work independently for maximum installation efficiency
- Always be safety conscious both on the job and while driving, and ensure the assistant installer is also working safely and neatly
- Report to and take direction from the HVAC Project manager and follow all established company policies and procedures
Installation Helper responsibilities
- Assist Lead Installer in installing new/replacement equipment and providing excellent customer service to residential and commercial heating and air conditioning customers
- Assist Lead Installer while learning to work on a variety of projects and tasks related to the HVAC trade: Residential Furnace, Air Conditioner, Heat Pump, Commercial Rooftop Ductwork, Condensate Drains, Venting, Refrigerant Piping, Gas Piping & Insulation
- Assist with line and low voltage wiring, controls, and programming
- Assist with other job/field related tasks as required: brazing, threading pipe, soldering, and welding
- Interface with customers in their homes and places of work, maintaining an acceptable appearance and manners
- Report to and take direction from the Lead Installer who then reports to the HVAC Project manager and follows all established company policies and procedures
Minimum Qualifications
- High School Diploma
- Valid Driver's License
Lead Installer Skills
- HVAC Experience
- HVAC Knowledge

- Familiarity with Furnaces

- Minimum of 2 years experience
Installation Helper Skills
- HVAC Experience

- Experience: None required
Physical Demands
- Climbing up and down on ladders and equipment
- Heavy lifting required (50-75 pounds), ladder work, and tight space work required from time to time
- Ability to pick up a minimum of 25 pounds consistently and carry up to 250 feet unassisted
- Operate handheld power tools
- Wear personal protective equipment
- Ability to work more than 40 hours per work week and up to 12 hours per day
Working Environment
- Work both indoors and outdoors
- Exposed to very hot or very cold temperatures
- In proximity to hazardous conditions, equipment, and situations
- Must be able to work with sharp tools and electricity that could potentially produce cuts or burns
- Wear safety attire often, such as goggles or other protective clothing
- Could be exposed to sounds and noise levels that are uncomfortable and distracting
- Will be exposed to very bright or inadequate lighting conditions
- Ability to climb ladders and work from roofs and scaffolding
- Will work around exposed contaminants
- Must be able to work in cramped workplaces, such as crawl spaces under floors
