About the role
We are seeking a talented individual to lead our Mountain States Investments and Retirement Practice at Mercer. This role will be based in Denver or Phoenix. This is a hybrid role that has a requirement of working at least three days a week in the office.
Responsibilities
- Drive practice revenue growth and achieve sales targets within the Mountain States market
- Own the sales pipeline: grow pipeline size and maturity, lead proposals, and convert opportunities into revenue
- Manage key client relationships and lead high-value engagements, ensuring strategic, high-quality consulting delivery that supports client retention
- Execute go-to-market and long-term business strategies that expand market presence and service offerings
- Represent Mercer through thought leadership, publications, and industry events to elevate the practice
- Oversee business growth initiatives and operations for the practice, including pipeline management, accounts receivable, profitability, and client retention
- Partner with the Consulting Team Leader (CTL), Client Office, and other practices to optimize staffing, capacity, and cross-sell/referral opportunities
- Build an engaged, inclusive team culture; recruit, develop, and retain talent aligned to the firm’s long-term vision
- Thrive and be motivated by an environment that embraces AI and technology-enabled tools
Requirements
- Relevant retirement and investment consulting or institutional investment experience across industries (15+ years)
- Proven track record of driving sales and revenue growth in consulting or professional services, including P&L or NOI contribution
- Strong client relationship experience at senior levels (including C-suite), with demonstrated success winning and retaining large engagements
- Experience leading business development, managing pipelines, and producing compelling proposals
- Financial and operational acumen, including budgeting, staffing, and profitability management
- Excellent leadership, communication, and stakeholder management skills; ability to partner across functions
Qualifications
- Demonstrated history of building and scaling a practice or business line within a geography
- Recognized thought leader with publications, speaking engagements, or industry presence
- Strong internal and external network that generates cross-sell and referral opportunities
- Track record of developing high-performing, future-ready teams and delivering measurable retention and profitability results
- Comfort operating in matrixed environments and driving change across multiple stakeholders
Skills

Pay
The applicable base salary range for this role is $232,000 to $348,000. The base pay offered will be determined on factors such as experience, skills, training, location, certifications, education, and any applicable minimum wage requirements. Decisions will be determined on a case-by-case basis.
