Duties Summary
- Responsible for the analyzing and recommending procedures on equipment operation, maintenance and repairs;
- Recommending equipment rental rates for vehicles and equipment owned by the Highways Division;
- Preparing specifications for the purchase of new equipment.
Also has the responsibility for reviewing, inspecting and making recommendations of safety practices and preparing safety manual and Civil Defense and emergency procedures.
Develops and recommends policies and procedures governing the acquisition, operation, maintenance, repair and replacement of motorized passenger vehicles and construction equipment and oversees their implementation;
Develops and conducts industrial safety activities;
Performs other duties as required.
Minimum Qualification Requirements
- Supervisory Experience: Three (3) years of progressively responsible supervisory work experience in the area of repair and maintenance of motorized passenger vehicles and/or construction equipment, or any equivalent combination of training and experience.
- Qualifying Work Experience Must Have Included The Following Activities:
- Overall planning of the operation,
- Formulation and implementation of operational procedures and policies governing the acquisition, operation, maintenance, repair and replacement of motorized passenger vehicles and construction equipment,
- Conducting feasibility and operational cost studies,
- Assigning and directing the work of subordinates,
- Training and developing new employees.
Driver's License Requirement: A valid license to drive in the State of Hawaii is required at the time of appointment.
