The Department of Transportation - Highways, State of Hawaii is recruiting for a Motor Carrier Safety Officer I position.
Duties Summary
- Enforce laws related to commercial vehicles including regulations on vehicle registration, safety, and weight limits.
- Conduct investigations, inspections, and compliance surveys.
- Perform formal and on-the-job training on motor carrier safety rules and regulations, inspection practices, and accident investigation techniques.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualification Requirements
- Legal Authorization to Work: Must be a citizen, national, or permanent resident alien of the United States, or eligible under federal law for unrestricted employment in the United States.
- General Experience: One (1) year of work experience demonstrating knowledge of arithmetic, reading, understanding, and explaining rules and regulations, conducting inspections or investigations, following instructions, and preparing reports.
- Lifting Requirement: Ability to lift and carry up to 40 pounds unassisted, and up to 50 pounds with assistance.

- Driver's License Requirement: Valid driver's license at the time of appointment.
- State's Measuremaster License: Possession of a valid State's Measuremaster License or ability to obtain one within the 6-month probationary period.
