About the role

The Motor Carrier Safety Officer I position is responsible for enforcing laws related to commercial vehicles, including regulations pertaining to vehicle registration, safety, and weight limits. The role involves conducting investigations, inspections, and compliance surveys.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct investigations and inspections to check for non-compliance with laws, rules, and regulations.
  • Prepare clear, concise reports based on findings.
  • Lift and carry objects weighing up to 50 pounds as needed.

Requirements

  • One (1) year of work experience demonstrating knowledge of arithmetic, including multiplication and division.
  • Ability to read, understand, and explain rules and regulations.
  • Pass a State's Measuremaster License test or be able to obtain one within the 6-month probationary period.
  • Valid driver's license.

Qualifications

  • Legal Authorization to Work in the United States.
  • General Experience: Must demonstrate knowledge of arithmetic, reading, understanding, and explaining rules and regulations; conducting inspections or investigations to check for non-compliance; following verbal and written instructions; and preparing clear, concise reports.

Skills

  • Knowledge of motor carrier safety rules and regulations.
  • Proficiency in inspection practices and procedures.
  • Ability to investigate accidents.
